SPANISH FILM

Politti arrived in Spain during an extraordinary moment of change in that country. On December 20, 1975, Francisco Franco, who had been the stronghold of the harsh dictatorship there for almost forty years, died, and two days later Juan Carlos de Borbón was pronounced King of Spain. On June 15, 1977, Adolfo Suárez triumphed in the first democratic election since 1936.

The new moment in Spanish politics, coupled by the many films that both testified to and denounced life under the dictatorship, created a new sort of cultural mold, hungry for freedom. During the time Politti lived in Spain, the following films were released there: "A un Dios desconocido," "Asignatura pendiente," "Cambio de sexo," "Elisa vida mia," "Parranda," "El diputado," "Los ojos vendados," "Un hombre llamado Flor de Otoño," "El crimen de Cuenca," "Mamá cumple cien años," "Arrebato," "Deprisa, deprisa" and "Pepi, Luci, Bom y las chicas del montón," among others.

Politti participated in still others, the best of which included: "Las truchas” (1977), "La escopeta nacional" (1977), "Con uñas y dientes” (1978), "El corazón del bosque" (1978), "F.E.N" (1979), "Sus años dorados” (1980), "Dedicatoria" (1980) and "El nido" (1980).
